Hagerstown to receive five new cruisers
Hagerstown City Police will get five new police cars, including one to replace a cruiser that ended up in the C&O Canal on Oct. 4.
City Council members on Tuesday night unanimously approved buying five 1998 Ford Crown Victorias from Norris Ford of Baltimore for $103,077.
Three of the cars will be black-and-white cruisers, officials said.
The other two will be unmarked cars used for prisoner transfers, traffic detail and administrative purposes, officials said.
Four of the five cars were budgeted for purchase this fiscal year as part of the vehicle replacement program.
The fifth car replaces a cruiser that ended up in the canal after a 16-year-old Tacoma, Wash., boy led police on a high-speed chase into Williamsport.
