A former Hagerstown man admitted in Washington County Circuit Court Thursday that he touched his two stepdaughters' genital areas when they made weekend visits to the Hagerstown home he shared with their mother.

The man, whose name is being withheld to protect the girls' identities, pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree sexual offense.

According to court records, the man touched the girls under their clothing when they visited between Sept. 1, 1995, and May 4, 1997.

Washington County Circuit Judge Fred Wright sentenced the man to 10 years in prison, seven of them suspended, on the first count, and a consecutive seven years in prison, suspended, on the second count.

Wright also ordered the man to pay for counseling costs for the girls not covered by insurance and to have no contact with the girls until he finishes his five-year probation after he gets out of prison.
