Man found guilty in assault

A Washington County Circuit Court jury found a Hagerstown man guilty of second-degree assault Monday for his involvement in a fight earlier this year in which a metal car jack was used as a weapon, according to court records.

Floyd Leon Sisler Jr., 30, of 620 George St., was acquitted of a first-degree assault charge and a second second-degree assault charge, according to the records.

No sentencing has been scheduled for Sisler, who faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, according to Assistant State's Attorney Mark Wolfe. Wolfe said he has asked for a pre-sentence investigation of Sisler.

The fight occurred March 1 in an alley between James and Norway streets in the city's West End shortly before 2 a.m., police said.

Joseph Edward Gormours, 42, of 604 W. Church St., was found lying in an alley with a pool of blood around his head. He was placed in intensive care at Washington County Hospital. He has since been released from the hospital.

Another victim had a bruised leg but refused treatment.
