Couple killed in accident

WOODSBORO, Md. - A 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass collided with a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Md. 194 and Main Street in Woodsboro Tuesday afternoon, killing a Westminster, Md., couple, Maryland State Police said.

Arthur N. Aldridge Jr., 88, and Dora S. Aldridge, 82, of 215 Goodwin Quarry Road, died in the crash, police said.

According to police, the Oldsmobile, which was headed north on Main Street at about 1:30 p.m., failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the right side of a 1993 International Truck tractor-trailer. The car sustained severe damage, police said.

The driver of the tractor, 27-year-old William C. Miller Jr., of Baltimore, was treated for minor injuries and Frederick Memorial Hospital and later released.

The investigation is continuing.
