BOONSBORO - A Myersville, Md., woman accidentally killed a friend while attempting to park her friend's Jeep late Saturday in a tavern parking lot off U.S. 40 on South Mountain, said Maryland State Police.

Helene Victoria Delauter, 52, of Middletown, was pronounced dead at Washington County Hospital, police said.

Delauter had arrived at the Dog Patch tavern but was unable to get her 1993 Jeep into a parking space properly, police said.

Her friend, Kimberly Sue Wise, 27, had just parked her 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier in a space behind the Jeep, police said.

Wise, of Myersville, Md., attempted to park Delauter's Jeep as Delauter waited behind the vehicle, police said.

Wise turned the front wheels sharply and accelerated the Jeep, police said.

The Jeep struck Delauter with the left rear bumper and pushed her into Wise's Chevrolet Cavalier, pinning Delauter between the two vehicles, police said.

The Jeep was pushed about five feet by the impact, police said.

The Jeep's passenger side also struck a Dodge truck in the front driver's side, police said.

No charges have been filed and the accident is still under investigation by Trooper George Fockler, police said.

The death was the third fatality in the Tri-State area on Friday.

About 5:30 p.m., an 83-year-old Dry Run, Pa., man was struck and killed on Pa. 75 near Doylestown Road intersection, Pennsylvania State Police said.

He was crossing the road to get mail from his mailbox, police said.

Kolblong was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

About 6:30 p.m., Catherine Eileen Wachter, 79, of Ijamsville, Md., died when the car she was riding in turned into the path of an oncoming car on Md. 194 in Frederick County.
