MARION, Pa. - John Stull of Littlestown, Pa., who with his son James were badly burned Wednesday while cutting up a fuel tank for scrap metal, remained in critical condition at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa., Friday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
The condition of James Stull was upgraded from guarded to satisfactory Friday, the spokeswoman said.
The men were cutting up metal for scrap recycling at the Marion Auction Service at 5174 Horst Road Wednesday afternoon when something in the tank they were working on ignited, fire officials said.
The men were using either a power saw or a cutting torch at the time. Fire officials said they didn't know what was in the tank or what tool the men were using when it ignited.
The Stulls are not employees of the auction company.
