A Smithsburg man was injured in a two-car accident that closed Jefferson Boulevard for about 45 minutes Thursday night, police said.
James King, 27, of Smithsburg, was taken to Washington County Hospital where he was listed in fair condition.
The 1987 Chevrolet he was driving slammed into the back of a Pontiac Firebird just east of Md. 62, according to Maryland State Police Sgt. Donald Stottlemyer.
The Firebird was stopped in the westbound lane of Md. 64 with its lights off at about 6:02 p.m., Stottlemyer said. When King's car came over a hill in the road, King didn't see the Firebird.
Police are looking for the driver of the Firebird, who ran from the scene after the crash.
Anyone with information about the accident should call state police at 301-739-2101.
