Drive-by shooting under investigation

Hagerstown City Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred late Saturday night, authorities said Sunday.

A vehicle was hit with bullets fired by a car in the first block of Fairground Avenue some time after 11 p.m., police said.

Sgt. Craig Bakner said he does not know how many bullets were fired.

The shots apparently came from a gray Renault or Nissan, Bakner said. The car, which had Maryland tags, was following behind the vehicle that was shot, he said.

Bakner said he does not know how many people were in the vehicles or what sparked the gunfire.

No one was hurt.

Bakner said the department's Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident.

No one from the detective bureau was available for comment Sunday.
