VAhosting exhibit for World AIDS Day

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center will sponsor a World AIDS Day exhibit Monday, Dec. 1 in the main lobby.

This year's theme is "Give Children Hope in a World With AIDS." Literature will be available. Part of the display will feature a quilt done by students at Tuscarora Elementary School in Martinsburg.

Craft fair scheduled for Dec. 5

The Washington County Job Development Center will hold a Christmas Craft Festival from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5.


Benefit dance set for Dec. 6 in Pa.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A country-western dance to benefit Greencastle Rescue Hose Co. No. 1 will be held at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at the fire company's Special Events Center in Greencastle, Pa.

Music will be provided by the Disc Jockey Full House.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10 to 16. There is no charge for children under 5.

Breakfast with Santa slated for Dec. 6

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - The Parish Council of Catholic Women of St. Mark's Church in Greencastle, Pa., will host breakfast with Santa from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 in the parish hall at 395 S. Ridge Ave.

Tickets are available at Lehman's Upholstery or at the door and cost $3 for adults and $1.50 for children ages 3 to 10. Children under 3 can eat free.

Professional portraits with Santa cost $2.

Multicultural dinner planned in W.Va.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ethnic cuisine will be served at a covered-dish dinner hosted by the Martinsburg High School Multicultural Group at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 in the school cafeteria.

Attendants are asked to bring a dish with an ethnic origin. The school's foreign exchange students will be the special guests and each will be asked to give a brief biography.

LPNprep course starts in January

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Adult Learning Center at James Rumsey Technical Institute in Martinsburg is offering a preparation course for anyone wishing to enter the 1998-99 LPN program.

The program will offer basic skills assessment to help determine the need for review in reading/vocabulary, math and science. Math review classes are held from 8 to 9:15 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday each week. Vocabulary/science review will be available from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

Practice testing for the pre-admission exam will begin Tuesday, Jan. 6 and will continue each Tuesday through the end of March. A $25 fee will be charged.

The official pre-admission exam will be offered every Thursday beginning Jan. 8 through the end of March. A $35 fee will be charged.
