United Way almost halfway to goal

The United Way of Washington County had reached 48 percent, or $885,810.96, of the 1997 campaign goal of $1,850,000.

In the past week, $103,868 in contributions came in for United Way member agencies, according to Maureen Theriault.

Three campaign divisions are more than half way home.

- The public division, comprised of schools, city and county employees, and other human service organizations has raised $95,598 or 55 percent of its goal.
