The Stouffers

Barbara and John Stouffer celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 28, 1997, at Four Points Sheraton Inn of Hagerstown.

The celebration was hosted by their sons, Mark Stouffer of Bethel Park, Pa., and Joel D. Stouffer of Washington, D.C., and Atlanta, Ga. More than 100 family members and friends attended.

The Stouffers were married May 31, 1957, at First Brethren Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. George Solomon.

Mrs. Stouffer is the former Barbara Snyder, daughter of the late Lula Boward and Edgar A. Snyder. She was a nurse at Washington County Hospital and is retired from Washington County Health Department.

Mr. Stouffer is the son of the late Alberta Anderson and Roy F. Stouffer. He taught at The Milton Hershey School and for Washington County Instructional Television. He retired from teaching at North Hagerstown High School in 1989. He is associated with Antietam Tree Service of Hagerstown.

They have one grandson.

The Myers

LeRoy and Mary Jane Myers celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at South Mountain Inn Friday, Aug. 15, 1997.

The celebration was hosted by their six children and their spouses, Mary Beth and Ted Flory of Bridgewater, Va., Rebecca and Arnie Fitzgerald of Waynesboro, Va., LuAnn and LeRoy Myers Jr. of Clear Spring, John and Cindy Myers of Williamsport, Teresa and John Barr of Clear Spring and Mark and Amy Myers of Clear Spring. Approximately 120 friends and relatives attended, including all 20 grandchildren.

The Myers were married Aug. 16, 1947, by the Rev. N.V. Leatherman at First Brethren Church in Hagerstown.

Mrs. Myers is the former Mary Jane Garman.

Mr. Myers retired from LeRoy E. Myers Inc. and raises Charolais cattle.

The Mills

Mr. and Mrs. George A. Mills of Sharpsburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Oct. 4, 1997, at Burnside First Church of God.

They renewed their wedding vows before a gathering of 135 family members and friends. The celebration was hosted by their children their families, Linda and David Draper, Sharon and Ronnie Ingram, Earl and Kimberly Mills and Arlene and Robert King.

The Mills were married Oct. 26, 1947, at the church parsonage in Boonsboro by the late Rev. William Herpich.

Mrs. Mills is the former Alice E. Myers, daughter of the late John and Ida Myers.

Mr. Mills is the son of the late Noah and Mabel Mills.

The Mills were owners and operators of Maryland Gum Tree Farms for 40 years.

They have six grandchildren.

The Kendricks

George D. and Nancy M. Kendrick of Hagerstown celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at a dinner held in their honor at Venice Inn in Hagerstown.

The dinner was hosted by their daughters, Betty Jane and Deborah Marie Kendrick, both of Hagerstown.

The Kendricks were married Oct. 27, 1957, at Seventh-day Adventist Church in Washington, D.C., by Pastor Johnson.

Mrs. Kendrick is a homemaker.

Mr. Kendrick is retired from Frederick County Board of Education.

The Hessongs

Charles and Evelyn Regina Wolfe Hessong of Smithsburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997, at The Cozy Inn in Thurmont, Md.

The celebration was hosted by their children and their spouses, Jeanne and Hans Endrikat of Manassas, Va., Steven and Carolyn Hessong of Chambersburg, Pa., and Donna and Mark Simmons of Baltimore.

The Hessongs were married Aug. 23, 1947, at United Brethren Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. Paul E. Holdcraft.

Mrs. Hessong is the daughter of the late Ira and Nellie Wolfe.

Mr. Hessong is the son of the late James and Sadie Hessong. He is retired from Mack Trucks.

They have three grandchildren.

The Bakers

Mr. and Mrs. Lauren E. Baker of Williamsport celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Friday, August 15, 1997, at Williamsport Fire Hall.

The celebration was hosted by their children, Timothy L. Baker, Michael T. Baker, and Lori A. Gardenhour, and their children's spouses.

The Bakers were married Aug. 24, 1957, at Williamsport Church of God by the Rev. Nevitt Evans.

Mrs. Baker is the former Barbara Ann Malott of Williamsport, daughter of the late David and Emma Malott. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Baker is the owner and president of Baker Insurance Agency Inc. in Hagerstown.

They have five grandchildren.
