CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A Ranson man was charged Saturday with murder in the shooting death of a Virginia man near here early Friday, West Virginia State Police said.

Police said Warren Taylor Jr., 21, of Ranson, W.Va., was arrested when he turned himself in shortly before noon Saturday. Taylor was being held without bond in the Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg pending a Circuit Court hearing, police said.

He is accused of killing Kim Flynn, 32, of Front Royal, Va., who was shot while sitting in a car that was leaving an Elks Club parking lot.

Police said witnesses identified Taylor as the main suspect in the case. A warrant for his arrest was issued late Friday night by a Jefferson County magistrate, police said.

The motive for the killing is still being investigated, police said.

Flynn's body was sent to the state Medical Examiner's office in Morgantown, W.Va., for an autopsy Saturday, police said.

According to police, Flynn was sitting in the front passenger seat of a rented 1997 Pontiac Grand Am as it was pulling out of the parking lot of the John Brown Lodge 841 Elks Club on U.S. 340, south of Charles Town, at about 2:10 a.m.

Flynn was in the car with two friends, including the driver and a back seat passengers, none of whom were hit. Police have not identified the other passengers.

Police said a shot was fired through the passenger window as the car was moving. Flynn was hit in the chest. The driver drove him to Jefferson Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:24 a.m., three minutes after he arrived, police said.
