FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick County elementary school teacher who was charged last month with getting child pornography from a school computer has now been charged with sexually assaulting a student 10 years ago, police said Thursday.

Gary E. Booth, 33, of the 5700-block of Brook Hill Lane, Frederick, Md., was charged Thursday with sodomy, second-degree sex offense, third-degree sex offense and child abuse, Maryland State Police said.

Booth is accused of sexually assaulting a boy at South Frederick Elementary School between September 1987 and June 1988, police said.

The assaults allegedly took place in a classroom after school when the boy was 9 and 10, police said.

Although the boy is now an adult, it is state police policy not to release the names of sexual assault victims.

On Oct. 25, investigators in the state police computer crimes unit charged Booth with one count of possession of child pornography.

Police said he got the porn from a computer at Myersville Elementary, where he was a teacher.

Booth turned himself in to the state police barracks in Frederick, Md., about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

He was taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, where he was being held on $50,000 bond Thursday night.

State police conducted the investigation with the help of the Frederick County State's Attorney's Office and Frederick County Public Schools.
