W.Va. man charged in crash

MAUGANSVILLE - The driver of a van turned left in front of a car Wednesday afternoon, causing an accident that damaged another van and a garage door at the Maugansville Auto Center, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

Emil Evanescu, 40, of Falling Waters, W.Va., was turning from Maugansville Road into the auto shop when his van collided with an oncoming Trans Am about 3:40 p.m., police said.

The van hit a parked van, owned by Robert Shafer of Maugansville, which had just been repaired, police said.

Shafer's van hit a garage door, doing $250 worth of damage, police said.

Evanescu and the driver of the car, Jacob Funk, 16, of State Line, Pa., were treated and released at Washington County Hospital, police said. Evanescu was charged with failure to yield the right of way, police said.
