Cold weather shelter opens
The Cold Weather Shelter of Washington County, which provides a warm, dry place for homeless people, opened Sunday at Christ's Reformed Church at 130 W. Franklin St. in Hagerstown.
The shelter will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through April 5, according to a news release issued by REACH Inc., which runs the shelter.
The shelter, for adults only, will be at Hagerstown area churches on a rotating basis.
Cigarettes, drugs and alcohol are prohibited by the shelter and officials will not serve people displaying violent behavior, according to the release.
