Opportunity center announces third tenant

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Global Safety Services Inc. signed a one-year lease last week to become Letterkenny Opportunity Center's third tenant.

The Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based truck driver training and licensing company plans to create a branch office in Building 500, a 20,000-square-foot office building, with about four employees, it announced Nov. 3.

An affiliate of Harrisburg Area Community College, Global provides school-approved driver testing and training programs. The program includes classroom instruction, tractor/semi trailer driving practice and road driving.

An eight-hour, American Red Cross standard first aid and CPR training course is also provided.

Global joins two other companies at Letterkenny Opportunity Center.

Excelsior Manufacturing Company, a clothing manufacturer and the center's first tenant to sign a lease, is expected to start operating today with 200 employees.

Martinez Consulting and Computing Services Inc., a technical and computer consulting firm known as MCCS Inc., moved into Building 500 on Oct. 10.

In September 1995, the federal government called for the closure of approximately 1,500 acres of the 19,500-acre Depot as part of a realignment plan.

A year later, the Franklin County Reuse Committee commissioned the preparation of a reuse strategy to transform and redevelop the 1,500 acres into a business and industrial park now known as Letterkenny Opportunity Center.
