FREDERICK, Md. - Patricia Stanley of Irvine, Calif., was chosen unanimously by Frederick Community College's Board of Trustees Thursday to be the sixth president in the college's 40-year history.
She will succeed Lee Betts who will retire in December after 11 years as president.
Ann Abeles, chairman of the college's board, described Stanley as a "dynamic individual with the vision to lead the college into the next century."
Stanley is now executive vice president of Cypress College in Cypress, Calif. She is expected to begin her presidency in early January.
There were five finalists for the position, which included Jon Larson, a Hagerstown resident and vice president of for administration at FCC.
