They love each other, and they want to tell the world.

On Saturday, Nov. 29, about 30,000 couples are expected to attend a marriage rededication called "Blessing '97" at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

The ceremony is the culmination of a weeklong series of conferences and events known as World Culture and Sports Festival III.

A total of 3.6 million couples worldwide are expected to participate in the rededication, said Pier Angelo Beltrami, a Hagerstown resident who is art director for the festival.

At about noon, couples from 186 countries will take part in a simultaneous blessing, he said.

"It's a one-of-a-kind celebration for the married couple," Beltrami said.

The event is being billed as an interfaith rededication ceremony with leaders of the world's major faiths. The main officiators are the Rev. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon.

The celebration continues all day and includes performances by Whitney Houston, Jon Secada and Cho Young Pil.

The football field will be transformed into a dance floor, and there will be a laser and fireworks display.

Each person attending the RFK event will receive a nylon tote bag that will include a blanket, seat cushion, lunch and a white and gold rededication scarf to signify unity between husband and wife, Beltrami said.

Free bus transportation from Hagerstown will be provided, he said.

The cost is $20 per person if reservations are made by Saturday, Nov. 15, and $40 per person thereafter.

Gates open at 8 a.m.
