William E. Reavis

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - William Ezra "Bill" Reavis, 93, of Hidden River, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, at his home.

Born July 6, 1904, in Winston-Salem, N.C., he was the son of the late Marion E. and Lillie Chamberlain Reavis.

His wife of 35 years, Naomi Kathleen "Kitty" Reavis, also died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997.

He graduated from barber school in Indiana.

He was a barber for many years, and was employed at Berkeley Plaza Barbershop in Martinsburg, and previously in the Washington, D.C., area.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by two sons, Richard Reavis of California, and Douglas L. Craigo of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Rene Sorrell of Hico, W.Va.; one stepson, Charles Craigo of Kearneysville; one sister, Lacie Reavis Hoots of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Rita Alfano; one stepgrandson; and several sisters and brothers.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. James Chambly will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Naomi K. Reavis

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Naomi Kathleen "Kitty" Reavis, 74, of Hidden River, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Born Sept. 19, 1923, in Oak Hill, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George and Ruth Pegram Morton.

Her husband of 35 years, William "Bill" Ezra Reavis, also died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997.

She was formerly employed at Hilltop House Hotel in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.

She was of the Brethren faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Rene Sorrell of Hico, W.Va.; two sons, Douglas L. Craigo of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Charles Craigo of Kearneysville; one stepson, Richard Reavis of California; one sister, Delorise Hughes of Oak Hill, W.Va.; one brother, Haven Stevens of Florida; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rita Alfano; one grandson; and several sisters and brothers.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. James Chambly will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Alta G. G. Ritchey

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Alta Grace Guillard Ritchey, 98, formerly of Wells Tannery, Pa., died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, at Blue Ridge Haven East, Harrisburg.

Born April 30, 1899, in Sandy Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Peter and Drucella Clippinger Guillard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luke G. Ritchey, in 1979.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Wells Tannery.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Hoover of Harrisburg; one son, Vaughn J. Ritchey of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one sister, Charlotte Guillard of Wells Tannery; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister; and three brothers.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa. The Rev. George Clippinger will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Breezewood, Pa.

Visitation will be Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Wells Tannery, Pa. 16691.

Bessie J. Mills

Bessie Jane Mills, 76, of 614 Sunset Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, at Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro.

Born Nov. 17, 1920, near Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Bertha Reid Saunders.

She was a homemaker.

She was a life member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church near Boonsboro, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and Episcopal Church Women.

She was a member of Lappans Homemakers Club, Lappans Garden Club, past board member of Washington County Ag Expo, and a former representative for University of Maryland Extension Office in Washington County.

She is survived by her husband, William A. Mills, whom she married May 30, 1940; two daughters, Melanie L. Kaetzel of Clear Spring and Jane Schlotterbeck of Middletown; two sons, Richard A. Mills of Hagerstown and William W. Mills of Chambersburg; one brother, Francis Saunders of Sharpsburg; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Elmina Jones; and two brothers, Elmer Saunders and Richard Saunders.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro. The Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery.
