The United Way of Washington County has reached 36 percent, or $674,940, of the 1997 campaign goal of $1,850,000, officials said Tuesday.
In the past week, $58,443 in contributions came in, according to Maureen Theriault.
Lettie Palmer, a United Way volunteer, assisted car dealers and parts suppliers in their campaigns. With a 91 percent participation rate, the division was the first to complete its fund-raising efforts.
The group included Hagerstown Ford, Younger Toyota, Central Mitsubishi-Isuzu, C. Earl Brown, Douglas Motors, Hagerstown Honda, Hamilton Pontiac Cadillac, Hoffman Chrysler Plymouth Jeep Eagle, Interstate Truck Equipment, Kirk Ford and Sharrett.
The employee campaign for the City of Hagerstown also is complete, Theriault said.
The next report meeting will be held Nov. 5 at 7:30 a.m. at the Ramada Inn.
