October 25, 1997

The Maryland Theatre received a $5,000 donation from the Samuel Freeman Trust this month towards its $107,779 restoration, said Patricia Wolford, the theater's acting executive director and board president.

The donation was given by trustee Hilton C. Smith, Wolford said.

The money will be used to replace the original box seat curtains at the historic South Potomac Street theater, she said.

Patrons can get a sneak peek at the restoration during an open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, Wolford said.
