A Frederick, Md., man pleaded guilty to attempted armed robbery Tuesday in Washington County Circuit Court in connection with an April 12 incident behind Hagerstown's parking deck.
Judge Frederick Wright ordered Aaron M. Sanders, 25, jailed pending completion of an updated pre-sentence investigation.
All other charges, including armed robbery, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, possession of lookalike drugs and two handgun violations, were dropped in exchange for the plea.
Deputy State's Attorney Charles Strong said the victim, Jerry Desjardins was walking in Hayes Alley at 11:50 p.m. when he was approached from behind by a man who yelled, "Freeze, police!''
Desjardins said he turned and the man pointed a gun at him and demanded money, Strong said.
When the victim said he didn't have any money, Sanders walked away, Strong said.
He was located a short time later in a parking lot off West Franklin Street by Hagerstown City Police. A gun found nearby later was linked to Sanders.
