A new citizen committee is expected to report to Hagerstown and Washington County officials in six months with a recommendation about a new minor league baseball stadium, Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II said Tuesday.
The Washington County Commissioners approved the formation of a nine-member committee on Tuesday. City Council members will vote on the matter next Tuesday.
The committee will address:
whether to renovate Municipal Stadium or build a new stadium.
economic benefits of a minor league team in the community.
funding options, including the team's financial stake and private and public partnerships.
whether the team should be Class A, AA or AAA.
other uses within a stadium complex.
intangible benefits such as quality of life.
