FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick County Public Schools is hosting an arts showcase Friday that is designed especially for elected officials.
It is being offered in response to the Federal Department of Education's national campaign, "America Goes Back to School - Get Involved!" and the Maryland Legislators Go Back to School with the Arts initiative sponsored by Arts Education in Maryland.
Sen. Jack Derr, R-Md., and Del. Paul Stull, R-Frederick, will visit visual art, drama and music classes at Hillcrest Elementary, Governor Thomas Johnson Middle and Governor Thomas Johnson High schools.
A parent-legislator chat will take place from 8:30 to 9 a.m. at Hillcrest Elementary, followed by time with the students from 9 to 9:30 a.m. The legislators will visit a drama class at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School at 9:40 a.m. and music classes at Gov. Thomas Johnson Middle School at 10:15 a.m.
