2 juveniles injured in Pa. accident

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Two Chambersburg teens suffered minor injuries Monday night after their vehicle hit a road sign, a hedge and a utility pole while allegedly swerving to miss an animal in the road, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Mark Pyatt, 14, of Chambersburg, was driving a 1994 GMC Suburban on Ciderpress Road near Gabler Road in Guilford Township around 9:30 p.m. when he rounded a turn, swerved out of control and veered off the road, police said.

Pyatt and passenger Robert Cameron III, 15, of Chambersburg, were both wearing seat belts, police said.

The truck sustained heavy front-end damage, police said.

Teen arrested for possession of crack

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A 15-year-old boy was arrested for possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver during a drug raid Monday by Martinsburg City Police.

According to the report, the unnamed youth was arrested during a 3:10 p.m. raid at an upstairs back apartment at 405 S. Raleigh St. Police said they seized about $300 worth of cocaine along with scales, pipes and a small amount of cash.

Uniformed and plainclothes police conducted the search with a warrant issued by Magistrate Ruth Donaldson, the report said. It said the search was part of a continuing investigation conducted with community support.

On Saturday, city police raided another apartment on Swartz Street that yielded a small amount of crack cocaine, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Pa. man arrested for firing gun at man

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - A Mercersburg man was arrested Sunday after firing a handgun at a Chambersburg man, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Shane Robert Butts, 28, of 3007 Mountain Road, Mercersburg, turned himself in to police Sunday after he fired a handgun at Don Eric Cook, 28, of Chambersburg, as he was backing out of Butts' driveway at 7 a.m. Saturday morning, police said.

The incident took place after Butts found the victim in the company of his estranged wife, police said.

Nobody was injured in the incident, police said.

Butts was arraigned before District Justice Larry Pentz on a charge of criminal attempt at homicide, police said.
