Domestic Violence Facts:

* Every three days in Pennsylvania, a woman or child is killed in a domestic violence-related homicide.

* A woman is battered every 15 seconds in the United States.

* At least 25 percent of domestic violence victims are pregnant when battered.

* Domestic violence is the leading cause of serious injury to American women, more common than mugging and car crashes combined.

* Women are more likely to be murdered when attempting to report abuse or trying to leave an abusive relationship.

* More than one in three Americans have witnessed an incident of domestic violence.

* Approximately 3.3 million children witness violence toward their mothers each year.

* Nearly half - 48 percent - of all incidents of domestic violence against women discovered in the National Crime Victimization Survey were not reported to the police.
