BAKER HEIGHTS, W.Va. - A Charles Town, W.Va., man was killed and his wife and children injured in a one-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon, West Virginia State Police said.

Richard Anton Roth, 23, of Flowing Springs Road, was pronounced dead at Martinsburg City Hospital following the 4:05 p.m. accident, according to Trooper R.C. Copson.

Michelle D. Roth, 22, and the couple's two children, ages 5 and 2, were flown to Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va.

A hospital spokesman said the two children were in serious condition.

Michelle Roth was expected to soon be released from the hospital, the spokesman said Sunday.

Copson said Michelle Roth was traveling west on W. Va. 9 East when she lost control of the 1987 Isuzu passenger car. The car ran off the road and struck a utility pole, Copson said.

Police said Richard Roth and the 5-year-old child were not wearing seat belts. Michelle Roth was wearing a seat belt and the 2-year-old was in a child safety seat. Copson said he did not have the children's names.

The accident is still under investigation, Copson said.

Richard Roth was the fourth person killed in a Tri-State traffic accident since Thursday.
