W. Va. man treated after accident

October 03, 1997

A Harpers Ferry, W.Va., man flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore following a traffic accident late Thursday was discharged to his home on Friday afternoon, according to the hospital's nursing coordinator.

Dale Alan Nuse, 27, was taken to the hospital by helicopter after the one-car accident in the 200 block of Knoxville Road in Frederick, Md., according to Maryland State Police.

The accident happened around 11:40 p.m., troopers said.

Nuse was driving a 1991 Ford Ranger west on Md. 478 when he lost control in a curve, went off the road and struck a bride abutment, snapped a telephone pole and destroyed a guardrail, troopers said.

State Highway Administration inspectors were called in to make sure damage to the bridge didn't affect the safety of the structure, and a crew was brought in to remove the pole and downed wires, troopers said.
