SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Janice Hamlet, assistant professor of speech and theatre arts at Shippensburg University, will speak at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the university's Old Main Chapel as part of the Shippensburg University Women's Studies Research Colloquium.

Her free lecture is titled "When Spirituality and Intellect Merge ... The Epistemology and Methodology of Womanist Scholarship." The lecture will highlight black women's intellectual tradition, thereby giving rise to the development of womanist scholarship. It will also discuss the unique innovations that offer a challenge to existing notions of what it means to be intellectual.
