City man, teenager facing charges

A Hagerstown man and a teenager were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia Friday night following a traffic stop on Md. 65 at Wagaman Road, according to Maryland State Police.

A trooper stopped a Toyota pickup truck for transporting teenagers in the bed, police said.

Marvin E. Muncie of 11300 Eastwood Drive and one of the teenagers were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

W.Va. accident victim improves

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - One of two people injured Wednesday night in a head-on collision on W.Va. 9 West has improved, a hospital spokesman said.


Matthew J. Carter, 18, of Berkeley Springs, was upgraded to stable condition Friday night at Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va., a hospital spokeswoman said. The spokeswoman reported Rachel Marie Whitford, 21, of Hedgesville, was listed in critical condition Friday night.

According to West Virginia State police, Carter was traveling west at 11:40 p.m. and was overtaking other vehicles when he approached the crest of a hill in a no-passing zone.

Whitford was westbound in her Suburu Justy when Carter's Chevy Corsica crossed into her lane and hit her car.

The drivers of the two cars were taken by helicopter to the hospital.
