I-70 work begins Monday

September 26, 1997

About 21/2 miles of Interstate 70 from west of Interstate 81 to west of Downsville Pike will be resurfaced beginning Monday, the Maryland Department of Transportation said.

The $1.7 million project includes making safety improvements such as installing raised pavement markers and modifying existing guardrails.

Single lanes in both directions will be closed between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. to allow for construction.

The project, to be completed by Valley Quarries of Chambersburg, Pa., should be completed by early summer 1998.
