City man charged with assault

A Hagerstown man was charged with second-degree assault Tuesday after deputies responded to the man's house for a domestic disturbance, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Charged was Robert Michael Thomas, 40, of 10818 Clinton Ave., police said.

Deputy J.R. Marshall said he was told Tuesday that Thomas' wife had been assaulted after a heated argument over marital problems. Thomas was not located at the time, but returned to the home a short time later.

Money stolen from purse in Boonsboro

A purse containing $21 was taken from a house on Weldon Circle in Boonsboro Tuesday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.


The purse was found in a neighbor's yard, but the money was missing, police said.

Man charged with disorderly conduct

A Boonsboro man was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct after a woman suffered cuts and bruises during a dispute in Hagerstown Tuesday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Charged was Dennis Todd Hamby, 37, of 8400 Tusing Way, deputies said.

Several deputies responded to the dispute at 12345 Walnut Point Road West, police said.

Laptop, pager taken from vehicles

Two cellular phones, a laptop computer and a pager valued at $4,400 were stolen from two cars in the Whispering Hills subdivision between Monday and Tuesday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Anyone who saw suspicious acitivity during the thefts on Sherri's Way and Amanda Drive can call the sheriff's department at 301-791-3020.

Woman charged with felony theft

A 40-year-old Martinsburg, W.Va., woman has been charged with felony theft and felony theft by scheme in connection with a shoplifting spree at several Valley Mall stores.

Flora L. Weister, of 531 W. Martin St., was apprehended at the J.C. Penney store at 4:13 p.m. Monday, according to Deputy Richard Peacock.

Found in her possession were five pairs of earrings and five watches, valued in excess of $300, deputies said.

A search of her vehicle turned up items from several other store locations, valued in excess of $1,000.

Weister was being held on $2,000 bond at the Washington County Detention Center.

She was found in the company of a 15-year-old girl who was also charged in connection with the thefts. The girl was kept in juvenile holdover.

W.Va. man charged in stabbing incident

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A man who walked into city police headquarters Sunday night bleeding from several stab wounds was treated and released from Martinsburg City Hospital.

Police charged Antonio Green, 47, of 204 W. Martin St., Apt. 4, with malicious wounding for allegedly stabbing 44-year-old John Marino Jr. He was arraigned Monday and jailed in lieu of $5,000 bond.

The police report said Marino came to the headquarters at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday with two lacerations to his chest and one each to his back and under his right arm. He told police he had been at Green's apartment when the two got into an argument.

When Marino tried to leave the apartment, he told police that Green attacked him with a knife.

Boy breaks hand in school brawl

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - One boy suffered a broken hand Monday morning in a classroom fight between two 15-year-old boys at Martinsburg High School.

According to the report, the one youth broke his hand hitting the other in the head. The fight was reported at 10:43 a.m. and city police said charges are pending in the incident.

The report did not identify either juvenile.
