Ghost tours being held around Halloween

September 23, 1997

Last week's downtown Hagerstown ghost tours were such a howling success that organizers plan to revive the tours for the Halloween season.

Five extra tours Sept. 5 and 6 had to be added to accommodate more than 250 people, said organizer Alice Duncan. Eight tours originally were scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

The hourlong tour featured 13 stops, including City Hall, Round the Square restaurant, the Baldwin House, the Miller House and The Maryland Theatre.

Additional stops probably will be added to the next set of tours, Duncan said. A schedule is expected to be available next week.

The tours cost $3 for adults and are free for children 12 and younger. Ticket proceeds went toward the cost of the tours, which were sponsored by the Downtown Assessment District.
