McDonald's hosting festivities

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Grand opening festivities for the 10th McDonald's in the central Pennsylvania area will take place Monday through Saturday, Sept. 27 at the newest restaurant, 11924 Buchanan Trail West in Mercersburg.

The celebration will kickoff Monday with Fire Safety Night from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Mercersburg Volunteer Fire Company will be on hand and kids will have the opportunity to have their pictures taken with a fire truck.

From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the dinner crowd will be entertained by Tuscarora High School marching band and choir. Customers will also have the opportunity to visit with members of local school sports teams. Students can enter the Pie-in-the-Face contest and throw a pie at their favorite teacher.

Family and Kids Night will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, featuring free face painting, a farm animal petting zoo and square dancing.

Customers can enjoy a 99-cent Western Omelette McMuffin with Mix 95 radio personalities from 6 to 9 a.m. Thursday. Listeners who recite the Mix 95 tagline will receive a free drive-thru coffee mug.

The 1950s will be honored from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday with Coke floats served in a collectible glass and 25-cent hamburgers. Classic cars will be on show and entertainment will be provided by Music Man.

From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 27, children can meet Ronald McDonald. Beginning at 10 a.m., Ronald will officiate at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and conduct a magic show. Bill Elliott's No. 94 NASCAR show car will be on view from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Customers can register all week to win one of two mountain bikes. The winner will be announced at 7 p.m. Sept. 27.
