Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II will visit Wesel, Germany, for a week to celebrate the 45th anniversary of its sister-city affiliation with Hagerstown.
Bruchey leaves today and is expected back on Thursday, Sept. 25.
Bruchey said he wants Wesel officials to know the change in Hagerstown's administration during the last election won't affect the sister city relationship.
Also going along on the trip are Bruchey's wife, Susan, and Public Works Manager Doug Stull and his wife. Stull is president of the sister city affiliation.
The City of Hagerstown will reimburse Bruchey and Stull for their round-trip plane tickets, said Ray Foltz, accounting department supervisor. Each round-trip ticket cost $535.
