Two charged with disorderly conduct

FREDERICK, Md. - Two people were charged with disorderly conduct Thursday after several picketers became disruptive and began to block traffic at the Rotorex Co., police said.

While deputies were arresting Jessie J. Williams Jr., 23, of Frederick, for disorderly conduct, his sister, Billy Joe Williams, 25, of Thurmont, Md., began to interfere in the arrest, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Department.

Billy Joe Williams was arrested for disorderly conduct, hindering deputies while performing their duties and second-degree assault for allegedly assaulting a deputy, police said.

The two are awaiting bond hearings at the Frederick County Detention Center.

Approximately 440 union employees at Rotorex walked off their jobs about a month ago when a three-year contract expired. The union said it is protesting company proposals to send some production work overseas and to increase wages less than 1 percent for three years. Workers at the Retreat Road factory make air conditioner compressors.
