MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - In a coordinated community response to the increasing demand for services addressing the many aspects of family violence in the community, some concerned citizens have formed the Eastern Panhandle Coalition Against Family Violence.
The group will work to educate, treat and prevent family violence through promoting public awareness, creating and instituting local public policy, working to pass legislative initiatives and securing funding for community programs.
The EPCAV will be a membership organization encompassing all of Berkeley County and open to all criminal justice agencies, victim service organizations, family violence survivors and any other concerned individuals.
The first meeting of the group will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Martinsburg/Berkeley County Public Library. For more information, call Nieltje Gedney at 1-304-754-3529 or Carole Ergin at 1-304-263-1157.
