Times have been changed for two events at the 135th Commemoration of the Battle of Antietam:
- Opening ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in the North Potomac Street parking lot in downtown Hagerstown.
- The re-enactment of the Cornfield battle will be held at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at the Artz farm. The time had been set for 5:30 a.m. until organizers realized that the actual battle was fought an hour later because there was no daylight-saving time in 1862. Sunrise that day is at 6:51 a.m.
The Antietam commemoration is expected to begin under cloudy skies on Friday, with a 30 percent chance of showers. However, mostlly sunny skies are forecast for both Saturday and Sunday, with highs around 80 both days.
