Fire damages W.Va. home

MIDDLEWAY, W.Va. - Firefighters from half a dozen companies were called in Wednesday night for a house fire in the Hidden River development off W.Va. 51 West.

According to a spokesman for Citizens Fire Co., the fire was called in at approximately 9:30 p.m. and units were still on the scene as of 11:30 p.m. The blaze heavily damaged the ranch-style home, according to one firefighter.

The spokesman said he did not know if anyone was injured in the fire.

Other fire companies included Harpers Ferry, Blue Ridge Mountain and Shepherdstown from Jefferson County, South Berkeley and Baker Heights in Berkeley County and units from companies in Berryville and Neersville, Va.

The Red Cross was also called to the scene.
