BIG POOL - A managed deer hunt will be conducted Dec. 1-4 at Fort Frederick State Park.
The hunt to control the deer herd on public lands will be held during the hours of sunrise to 1 p.m. each day. Twenty-five hunters each day, selected by a lottery drawing, will be placed in pre-determined locations to harvest an antlerless deer.
Shotguns with rifled slugs will be used. The park will remain closed during the hunt.
Applications for the lottery can be found in the 1997-98 "Hunting and Trapping Guide" or picked up at Fort Frederick State Park.
A $5 fee must accompany the application and be received at the Fort Frederick visitor center by 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3. The lottery drawing will be held on Monday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m.
