Easter Seal Society for Disabled Children and Adults, Western Maryland region, is selling a limited edition collector's series of Christmas ornaments. This 24k gold-on-brass ornament, featuring Antietam's Burnside Bridge, commemorates the 135th Anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. The ornament, which has been endorsed by Washington County Historical Society, comes in a velvet envelope with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
This limited edition ornament was designed by artist, author and conservationist Bruce Etchison. Etchison, who is now retired, lives in Fayetteville, Pa.
The ornament is available through Easter Seal Society for $13.50 each or five for $50. Proceeds will benefit Easter Seal programs in Washington County. Easter Seals provides programs, such as Break-A-Way Adult Social Day-Care Program for Seniors. The ornament can be purchased at the Easter Seal Society Break-A-Way Center, 11 W. Baltimore St. in Hagerstown. Easter Seal staff and volunteers will have ornaments for sale Friday through Sunday, Sept. 12 to 14, at the 135th Anniversary Re-enactment of the Battle of Antietam at the Artz farm south of Hagerstown. Ornaments also will be available at the Miller House gift shop and at other stores throughout Washington County.
