4 injured in Halfway wreck

HALFWAY - Four people were sent to Washington County Hospital Friday - two for serious injuries - after a car flipped a truck over in the intersection of Halfway Boulevard and Virginia Avenue, according to a fire official.

None of the patients' conditions could be obtained since the names were not available from Maryland State Police.

Around 5:34 p.m. a Cadillac hit a GMC truck on its passenger side, flipping the truck onto its driver's side, said Lt. Ed Ernst with the Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway Inc.

"We had to cut the roof off the truck to get them out," Ernst said of the two people inside.

The husband and wife in the car had minor cuts, he said.

No southbound traffic was allowed through the intersection until around 7 p.m., Ernst said.
