WAYNESBORO, Pa. - A 15-year-old boy who walked away from VisionQuest Wednesday morning was picked up without incident about 90 minutes later near U.S. 30 east of Chambersburg by Pennsylvania State Police and officials from the facility, a VisionQuest spokeswoman said.
The boy was returned to the camp, which houses troubled but non-violent youths who are sent there by judges.
Pat Yeager, VisionQuest spokeswoman, declined to say how many youths have walked away from the camp this year. The camp is not fenced.
Last year, according to state police, 12 youths walked away, while another four fled in January.
None of the youths who left have gotten into serious trouble in the area, although one stolen vehicle was attributed to a VisionQuest youth, police said.
Neighbors in the South Mountain area near the camp have expressed concerns about the number of escapes.
