A 14-year-old Hagerstown boy was sent to the hospital Sunday evening after his scooter collided with an oncoming car in West Church Street, Hagerstown City Police said.

The boy, whose name was withheld, was taken to Washington County Hospital shortly after the 8:06 p.m. accident. Officer Casey Yonkers said the boy dislocated his left shoulder and broke a bone in his lower leg.

The driver of the car, a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, was Stephanie Dawn Yost, 17, of Clear Spring. Yonkers said she was driving west on West Church Street when the boy darted out from the driveway that leads to the Salem Avenue School.
