Margaret L. Elbin

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Margaret L. Elbin, 89, of Route 2, Warfordsburg, died Friday, July 25, 1997, at Fulton County Medical Center Extended Care Facility in McConnellsburg, Pa.

She was the last surviving member of her family.

Born July 30, 1907, in Buck Valley, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Amanda Robinson Lehman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred R. Elbin, who died July 14, 1975.

She graduated from Duquesne High School in Duquesne, Pa., and attended Elizabethtown and Shippensburg Normal Schools.

She was retired from Southern Fulton Schools after 37 1/2 years as a teacher.

She was a member of Buck Valley Christian Church, Warfordsburg.

She was a member of Queen Ester Chapter No. 3 OES, Hagerstown.

She is survived by two sons, George R. Elbin and Keen Elbin, both of Warfordsburg; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Eileen Moyer; one son, John L. Elbin; two sisters, Ada Gracey and Willa Northcraft; two brothers, Glenn Lehman and Day Lehman; and one grandson.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Buck Valley Christian Church. The Rev. Clint Bahrenburg will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, and at the church one hour prior to the service. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Monday from 2 to 9 p.m.

Eva M.F. Rowe

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Eva Marie Furley Rowe, 68, of Martinsburg, died Friday, July 25, 1997, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born Dec. 1, 1928, in Berryville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Mildred Shaw Furley.

She was a member of Northside Church of Christ.

She is survived by husband, Lawrence O. Rowe at home; three brothers, Kenneth Furley, David Furley and James Furley, all of Martinsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Johnson and Dorothy Piper; and one brother, Charles Furley.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. Christopher D. Fowler will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral today from 7 to 9 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, W.Va. 25401.

Samuel Unger

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Samuel Unger, 70, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, July 25, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

Born March 21, 1927, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Tracy and Mae Dick Unger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helena Drue Unger, on Aug. 8, 1993.

He attended Oakland School, Morgan County, W.Va.

He retired in 1990 after 40 years of service as foreman with U.S. Silica, Berkeley Springs.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of Teamsters Local 992, Berkeley Springs.

He is survived by one son, James Samuel Unger of Berkeley Springs; three sisters, Mary Carter and Lola Rinker, both of Winchester, Va., and Catherine Dawson of Berkeley Springs; three brothers, Dennis Unger of Berkeley Springs, Vernon Unger of Richmond, Va., and Junior Lee Unger of Winchester, Va.; three grandsons; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred E. Unger and Edmund J. Unger.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today for the convenience of friends.

Reta B.A. Tabler

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Reta Belle Alger Tabler, 95, of Martinsburg, died Friday, July 25, 1997, in Care Haven of Berkeley Nursing Home in Martinsburg.

Born Dec. 18, 1901, in Page County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Jacob V. and Fannie McIntruff Alger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Tabler.

She moved from Rileyville, Va., to Martinsburg in 1923.

She was a member of Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren.

She was a member of Fairview Extension Homemakers.
