Three hurt in W.Va. collision

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Three people were hurt late Thursday morning in a head-on collision on Tomahawk Road.

The accident happened at 11:35 a.m. when Walter Sharpless, 17, of Maryland, was driving north when his 1991 Dodge Shadow skidded on a curve and crossed the center line, hitting a car driven by Bethany Lockwood, 28, of Hedgesville, West Virginia State Police said.

The report did not give an address for Sharpless.

Sharpless was admitted to City Hospital, where he was in satisfactory condition Thursday. Lockwood and 7-year-old Justin Lockwood were treated in the emergency room.
