Hagerstown City Police arrested a Hamilton Boulevard man Sunday morning after a standoff that lasted more than six hours, officials said.

Steven Linn Barr, 34, of 808 Hamilton Blvd. was charged with second-degree assault, attempted sodomy and reckless endangerment.

Police officers on patrol at 5 a.m. saw a woman at the intersection of Manila Avenue and Potomac Street, authorities said. The 36-year-old woman was naked except for socks, sneakers and part of a laced top, police said.

She was taken to Washington County Hospital, where she was treated and released.

According to police, the woman was assaulted at a home in the 800 block of Hamilton Boulevard. After learning he was armed, officers called for the department's Special Response Team. The unit surrounded the home and cordoned off a two-block area.

At 11:28 a.m., the man walked out of the home and surrendered, police said. He had a 12-gauge shotgun and a high-power .308-caliber rifle, both of which were armed, police said.
