A Landover, Md., man was in critical condition Saturday night after being pulled from the lake at Greenbrier State Park east of Hagerstown.
Willie Roger Lewis, 49, was rushed to Washington County Hospital by the Boonsboro Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Service, according to Maryland Park Ranger 1st Class Meredith Brenneman. "We're not really sure what happened," Brenneman said.
Family members told Brenneman that Lewis fell over into the water. Brenneman said he didn't know whether Lewis suffered a heart attack and then started to drown or whether he just started to drown.
After realizing Lewis wasn't floating, people dragged him to shore, Brenneman said. Someone then called 911 using a cellular phone.
