Couple hurt in crash still in critical condition

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Martinsburg, W.Va., couple who were injured in a car wreck Friday morning remained hospitalized in critical condition Saturday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Shari Hood and James Hood, both 46, were flown to Inova Fairfax (Va.) Hospital.

Shari Hood lost control of a 1996 Buick on southbound Interstate 81 in Martinsburg, police said.

The car flipped several times and went into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by a Winnebago driven by a New York couple who were not seriously hurt, police said.

The accident was witnessed by a West Virginia State Police trooper.

Three in Frederick face cocaine charges

FREDERICK, Md. - Three people were charged Friday with selling crack cocaine to undercover officers on West South Street, Frederick City Police said.

Charged were Anthony Donnell Brown, 34, and Raynard Jerome Wars, 35, both of Frederick, and David Eugene Thomas, 27, no fixed address, police said.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

FREDERICK, Md. - A traffic stop on Saturday netted an arrest for possession of marijuana, Frederick City Police said.

Anthony Lee Greene, 25, of Frederick, Md., was charged with possession of marijuana, unsafe passing on the right and failure to display his vehicle registration on demand, police said. Greene was stopped in the 1100 block of Young Place, police said.

New car vandalized

A Clear Spring area woman's 1997 Plymouth Breeze was damaged by vandals while it was parked off Robinwood Drive, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said Friday.

Someone used a key or similar tool to scratch the passenger side doors and fender between 6 p.m. Thursday and 9:45 a.m. Friday, police said.

The car is owned by Kathleen Slick Manuel, 34, of 12913 Cohill Road, police said. Damage was estimated at $300.

Four hurt in crash

FREDERICK, Md. - Four people had minor injuries after a seven-car chain-reaction accident on southbound U.S. 15 at Rosemont Avenue at the height of Friday morning rush hour, Maryland State Police said.

Four people, whose names were not available, were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Schools vandalized

FREDERICK, Md. - Vandals throwing stones damaged two Frederick County schools Thursday night or early Friday, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office said.

A large stone knocked out a lobby window at Liganore High School. Damage was estimated at $300.

At New Market Middle School, a large landscaping stone knocked out one door window and damaged another, police said. Damage was estimated at more than $600.
