Water conservation asked

July 08, 1997

MONT ALTO, Pa. - Mont Alto water system customers are being asked to restrict their use of water inside and outdoors until the borough's water pump is fixed, which officials hope will be done by late this afternoon.

The water authority announced in a statement Monday afternoon that a strict water use ban has been issued until further notice, restricting all outside use of water.

Residents are being advised not to fill swimming pools, wash cars, water lawns and flowers or do anything else that uses water outside.

Interior use of water should be restricted only to those activities absolutely necessary.

Water authority Secretary Patricia Kocek said the water pump broke down Sunday afternoon and workers are waiting for the replacement bearings to come in.
